-The salty pit antenna-

Scheme of the new salty pit antenna design
1. RG 58 2. thin silver coated wire 3.saturated cooking salt solution

An antenna easy to build, with a performance similar to a groundplane.

As project for an youth science competition I have developed an antenna, that uses a salt solution as hf leading matter. Just fill a plastig beaker to 1/4 of the wavelength with a saturated aquaeous cooking salt solution. Than solder a silver coated wire looping on the end of RG58's the inner conductor and dunk this into the salt-solution. Now send a signal and check the emmission's strength or speak.

At me it worked always fine and I could brigde distances of 30km on 438Mhz direct frequence The idea was never published before. I would be pleased to have exchange with other antenna developers about refinements, applications and experiences with this antenna design.
